Delhi has always been a city of fragrance. The attar shops of Chandni Chowk and Dariba Kalan have scented the capital for centuries, and today the National Capital Region is home to some of India's fastest-growing perfume, cosmetics and personal care brands. Noida and Gurugram host D2C startups and e-commerce warehouses; industrial belts in Okhla, Bawana, Narela, Kundli, Manesar, Faridabad and Ghaziabad manufacture everything from deodorants to detergents. Beyond NCR, cities like Jaipur, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Agra and Dehradun add their own demand for attars, perfumes and home fragrance.

All of these businesses need a reliable perfume oil supplier. This handbook explains how to choose one, what fragrance profiles work for North Indian customers, how pricing and minimum orders work, and how YKS Industries — a perfume oil manufacturer established in 2003 — supplies brands across Delhi NCR and North India.

The North Indian Fragrance Market at a Glance

North India is one of the most diverse fragrance markets in the country.

  • Delhi's traditional attar trade remains strong, with buyers who know their rose, khus, mitti and oud.

  • Modern D2C perfume brands in Noida, Gurugram and South Delhi are launching EDPs and gift sets for a young urban audience.

  • FMCG and cosmetic contract manufacturers across the NCR's industrial areas need fragrance for soaps, shampoos, deodorants, talc and hair oils.

  • Wedding and gifting demand across Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi creates huge seasonal spikes in perfume, attar and candle sales.

  • Religious and incense use — agarbatti, dhoop and pooja products — is a major fragrance consumer across the region.

  • Car fragrance is big business in a region with heavy car ownership and long commutes.

That diversity is an opportunity, but it also means one supplier must understand many different applications.

Why North Indian Brands Are Changing How They Buy Perfume Oil

For years, many NCR businesses simply bought oil from wholesalers in old Delhi markets. That model is changing for three reasons.

1. Documentation is now non-negotiable. Marketplaces, modern retail and export buyers ask for SDS, IFRA certificates and COAs. Many traditional wholesalers can't provide them.

2. Brands want consistency. A brand that sells thousands of bottles a month needs every batch to smell the same. Repacked oil from multiple sources rarely achieves that.

3. Brands want exclusivity. As competition grows, brands want custom formulas, not the same oil their competitors buy from the same shop.

The answer is to buy directly from a manufacturer that can deliver all three.

How to Choose a Perfume Oil Supplier in Delhi NCR

Confirm they manufacture

Ask about the plant, its capacity and its process. YKS Industries manufactures in Vaijapur, Maharashtra, with a capacity of 500 kg of perfume oil per day.

Check the library size

A large library lets you build a range quickly. YKS has more than 250 perfume oils in its catalogue, plus more formulations not published on the list.

Ask about custom development

Custom compounds at YKS start at 20–50 kg, depending on the extent of customisation, with development taking about 20 days after sample approval and payment.

Insist on documentation

YKS provides MSDS, SDS, COA, IFRA, ISO, WHO-GMP and GMP documentation.

Understand MOQs and pack sizes

Library oils start at 1 kg. Packs of 500 gm are also available, priced at half the 1 kg rate plus ₹250.

Test before you buy

YKS starts every new buyer with a trial kit, then offers 15 ml samples of the specific oils you need.

Check responsiveness

YKS replies to all enquiries within 24 hours, working seven days a week.

Fragrance Profiles That Win in North India

North India's climate swings from cold, dry winters to scorching summers and a humid monsoon. Smart brands build seasonal ranges.

Winter: rich, warm and long-lasting

  • Oud and agarwood: a huge favourite in Delhi, Lucknow and across North India.

  • Amber, resins and incense: warm, cosy and perfect for the wedding season.

  • Sandalwood: creamy and traditional, loved across age groups.

  • Spicy orientals: saffron, cardamom, clove and cinnamon.

Summer: fresh, cooling and light

  • Khus (vetiver): the classic North Indian summer scent, earthy and cooling.

  • Citrus and aquatic: bright and clean for daytime.

  • Green tea and herbal: refreshing and office-friendly.

Monsoon: earthy and floral

  • Mitti (petrichor): the smell of first rain on dry earth — a beloved Indian attar.

  • Rose and jasmine: perennial favourites, especially in attars and bridal perfumes. YKS distils some raw materials, including rose, in Kannauj, the heart of India's attar tradition.

All-year bestsellers

  • Clean musks and powdery notes for everyday use

  • Fougère and woody blends for men's grooming

  • Gourmand vanilla and caramel for younger buyers and candles

Pricing Expectations

North Indian buyers are famously sharp on price, and rightly so. But perfume oil is one product where cutting price almost always means cutting quality.

YKS Industries prices its perfume oils from about ₹4,000/kg to around ₹50,000/kg depending on ingredients, excluding GST. We use imported international fragrance components and position ourselves against French perfume oil manufacturers rather than local blenders. That means our oils are not the cheapest — but they are built to make your customers come back.

The YKS Ordering Process for Delhi NCR and North India

  1. Trial kit: First-time buyers order a ₹950 trial kit of five signature oils in 15 ml bottles.

  2. Samples: If you like the trial kit, order 15 ml samples of the oils you want to evaluate.

  3. Order: Library oils from 1 kg; 500 gm packs available. Orders are packed in 500 gm and 1 kg aluminium containers.

  4. Payment: 100% advance payment before production. Prices exclude GST.

  5. Dispatch: Library oils dispatch within 7 days of payment. We don't dispatch on Saturdays or Sundays because courier partners don't operate then.

  6. Credit: The trial kit amount is credited partially against your first order, and fully once your total order goes above 5 kg.

Sample kits dispatch every Monday for orders confirmed during the previous week.

White Label and Unbranded Perfume Oil

North India has a thriving market for private-label perfume oils, particularly among attar sellers and gifting businesses.

  • White label: your brand on our aluminium oil containers, minimum 10 kg of concentrated oil per fragrance.

  • Unbranded supply: neutral product that you brand yourself, 5 kg MOQ.

If you need finished, bottled perfume under your brand rather than oil, our group company YKS Ventures handles finished-perfume manufacturing.

Distributorship Across North India

We are building a network of distributors — perfume shops and fragrance retailers who sell YKS oils in their city. Distributors earn a 25% margin, and specific terms are discussed when you contact us. We're especially interested in hearing from retailers in Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Kanpur, Agra, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Amritsar, Dehradun and Varanasi.

Questions to Ask Any Supplier Before You Buy

  1. Do you manufacture, or do you trade?

  2. Where is your facility and what is its capacity?

  3. Can you provide SDS, COA and IFRA certificates for this oil?

  4. Is this oil suitable for my application and base?

  5. What is your MOQ for library and custom oils?

  6. What are your lead times, and how do you communicate delays?

  7. How do you ensure batch-to-batch consistency?

  8. Can I sample before ordering?

A supplier who answers all eight clearly and quickly is worth talking to. YKS uses third-party laboratories for product testing and flags any longer delays at the order stage.

Building a Year-Round Fragrance Calendar for North India

North Indian demand is highly seasonal, and brands that plan their fragrance range around the calendar sell more and hold less dead stock. Here's a simple planning framework.

January–March: Wedding season tail and spring

Late winter weddings keep demand for oud, amber, saffron and rose high. As spring arrives around Holi, lighter florals and fruity notes start to pick up. This is a good time to launch a fresh spring line.

April–June: Peak summer

Temperatures across Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh climb sharply. Customers want cooling, fresh scents — khus, citrus, aquatic, green tea and light musks. Body mists and deodorants outsell heavy EDPs. Car perfume demand also rises as cars heat up and drivers want freshness. Plan your oil orders by March so stock is ready before the heat.

July–September: Monsoon

Humidity changes how fragrance behaves on skin. Clean, earthy and green scents do well, and mitti attar has its moment. Home fragrance and room sprays also sell well as homes stay closed during rain.

October–November: Festive season

Navratri, Dussehra, Karva Chauth, Diwali and Bhai Dooj make this the single biggest gifting window of the year. Gift sets, attar boxes, candles and premium EDPs fly off shelves. Corporate gifting orders also peak. Order oils by August to leave time for bottling, packaging and distribution.

November–February: Wedding season and winter

The wedding season brings demand for long-lasting, luxurious fragrances — oud, sandalwood, amber, rose and spicy orientals. Winter's cold dry air means fragrances project less, so richer, higher-concentration formulas sell better.

With library oils dispatching within 7 days of payment and custom development taking about 20 days after sample approval, YKS can support a seasonal plan — as long as brands plan ahead for bottling and packaging time.

How to Calculate How Much Perfume Oil You Need

New brands often ask how many kilos they should order. The answer depends on your product's concentration. Here's a simple way to estimate.

Step 1: Decide your product concentration. As a general guide, an EDP commonly uses a higher concentration of oil than an EDT or body mist, while attars may use the oil neat or very lightly diluted. Your perfumer or bottling partner will confirm the exact dosage.

Step 2: Multiply your bottle volume by the concentration to get oil per bottle. For example, a 50 ml bottle at 20% concentration uses roughly 10 ml of oil.

Step 3: Multiply by your planned number of bottles. Using the example above, 1,000 bottles would need roughly 10 litres — on the order of 10 kg, depending on the oil's density.

Step 4: Add a small buffer for filling losses and testing.

This kind of calculation helps you see why a 1 kg MOQ is enough to test a market, while a 10 kg white-label order or a 20–50 kg custom compound supports a serious launch.

Storing Perfume Oil Through North India's Extremes

North India's temperature swings — from near-freezing winter nights to summer afternoons well above 40°C — can affect perfume oil if it's stored carelessly.

  • Avoid heat. Don't keep oil in hot godowns, under tin roofs or in vehicles during summer. Heat can change delicate top notes.

  • Avoid sunlight. Light can degrade some fragrance materials. YKS packs orders in aluminium containers that protect oil from light.

  • Watch for winter cloudiness. Some oils can become slightly cloudy or thicker in cold weather. This is often reversible once the oil returns to room temperature — but check with your supplier if you're unsure.

  • Close containers tightly. Air exposure slowly changes fragrance over time.

  • Rotate stock. Use older stock first and label each container with its date received.

Good storage protects your investment and keeps every bottle you sell smelling exactly as intended.

A Note on Brand Names

Many North Indian markets sell oils labelled with the names of famous designer perfumes. While this is common, it creates trademark risk for any brand that builds its products around those names. We recommend creating original product names and building your own brand equity from day one.
